Dr. Brad Nix, Director
Brad Nix is a widely-recognized composer, orchestrator, and arranger, and has written for many of the nation’s major publishers. He currently serves as Keyboard and Choral Editor for the Lorenz Corporation, and has well over 200 choral pieces in print, as well as many piano folios and orchestrations.
In addition to his work in the music industry, Brad serves on the staff of First Baptist Church of Bastrop, TX. His responsibilities at the church include planning worship and directing several choral and instrumental ensembles.
Brad frequently travels throughout the country as a clinician for reading sessions and conferences, and his music has been heard in venues ranging from Carnegie Hall in New York City to the famed St. Martin-in-the-Fields Church in central London, as well as countless churches all over the world.
Brad received his DMA degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder. He and his wife, Pattie, along with their three children, are proud to make their home in Bastrop, TX.

David McCall, Assistant Director
David McCall has been a part of A JOYOUS CHRISTMAS planning and assisting since its inception. David’s love of music began when he sang with an elementary-aged boys’ choir, and expanded as he performed with small and large choral ensembles, played guitar and keyboard with various groups, and served as a bi-vocational music minister at churches in San Marcos, Wimberley, and Bastrop.
His professional career has always been education-related. He taught high school chemistry and math, worked in special education as an Educational Diagnostician and School Psychologist, and ended his career in the private sector, where he trained teachers in many areas of educational technology.
David resides in Rosanky with his wife, Carolyn, and loves spending time with his six grandchildren.
Joseph Martin, Artist-in-Residence
A native of North Carolina, Joseph Martin earned his Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. Subsequently, he earned a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance at the University of Texas at Austin.
He serves as Director of Sacred Publications at the Hal Leonard Corporation. His responsibilities include overseeing the editorial and creative direction of the company, and also coordinating the recording and production aspects of all sacred publishing efforts.
As winner of the Nina Plant Wideman Competiton, he performed with the Guadalajara Symphony Orchestra. His solo recital in Ex-convento del Carmen was broadcast nationally throughout the country.
His music can be heard in such diverse locations as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York City, Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C., the Lawrence Welk Theater in Branson, Missouri, St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City, and in hundreds of worship services across the United States and Canada. Joseph lives in Austin, Texas, with his wife, Sue.
