In 2016, Pastor Phil Woods and Joyce Lukrofka, of Bastrop First Assembly of God, first began to dream of a community-wide Christmas event. A committee was formed, and soon A JOYOUS CHRISTMAS became a reality.

A JOYOUS CHRISTMAS is an annual musical event that brings together singers from churches all across Bastrop. Together, these singers form a mass choir, and along with other ensembles and musicians from the area, present a free evening of Christmas music. 

​

The dream for A JOYOUS CHRISTMAS, however, was not just a dream about a Christmas concert. It was a dream to have a positive impact on our community. So, at the end of each A JOYOUS CHRISTMAS event, a love offereing is taken up and given to a local non-profit group that is making a difference in the lives of the people of Bastrop.

As of 2022, more than $30,000 has been given to local charities. Below is a list of past recipients of the A JOYOUS CHRISTMAS love offering.
